LOCTITE 248 is a one-component, anaerobic thread-locking compound provided in a semi-solid stick format. It is designed for locking and sealing threaded fasteners to prevent loosening due to vibration, shock or thermal cycling. The convenient solid stick format allows no-drip, no-mess application — making it particularly suitable for vertical or overhead use, and for fasteners in industrial, automotive or maintenance environments. It bonds across all metals, including passive substrates such as stainless steel, aluminium and plated surfaces — and it tolerates standard thin corrosion-preventive oils on “as-received” fasteners without the need for aggressive cleaning.

  1. Подготовка поверхности: Remove heavy oils, dirt or old sealant. LOCTITE 248 may be used on “as-received” fasteners with light corrosion-preventive oils without cleaning.

  2. Применение: Swipe the stick across the male thread (nut or bolt) in the engagement zone (typically 2-3 thread turns).

  3. Сборка: Assemble the fastener and tighten to the specified torque in one go (before full cure sets).

  4. Curing / Handling: The adhesive cures when confined and air is excluded between the mating threads. Typical handling strength develops in minutes — full strength over time per the TDS.

  5. Disassembly / Service: Because this product is medium-strength, disassembly is possible using standard hand tools if required — helpful for service or maintenance.
    Tips:

  • Ensure the adhesive swipe covers all thread engagement area for full performance.

  • Avoid excessive application—only enough adhesive to occupy thread roots is needed.

  • For fasteners in passive metal or under cold conditions (< 5 °C), an activator may improve cure speed.
