Overview

The LOCTITE® PU20 is a compact digital peristaltic dispenser designed for precise, repeatable dosing of single-component, low-viscosity, non-thixotropic materials such as cyanoacrylates, anaerobics, light-cure products and solvents.

Unlike pressure-tank systems, PU20 moves material by squeezing the feed tube with a rotating head, so the liquid never contacts the pump mechanism, stays air-free, and can be handled safely even when it’s aggressive or hard to clean.

Key Benefits

  • Accurate volumetric dosing
Digital control of rotor speed and dispense time delivers highly repeatable dots and beads directly from the bottle.

  • Air-free, clean dispensing
The peristaltic principle eliminates compressed air and keeps bubbles out of the product, improving bond quality and optical clarity.

  • No compressed air required
Electro-mechanical drive means you only need mains power—ideal for labs, cell stations and sites without plant air.

  • Fast setup and easy changeover
Tubing loads quickly, bottles stay sealed, and the “teach”/memory function lets you store and recall programs for different jobs.

  • Safer handling of aggressive liquids
Because only the tube touches the adhesive, cleaning and operator exposure are minimized—simply replace the tube when needed.

Typical Applications

  • Precision dotting and beading of LOCTITE anaerobic, CA and UV/visible adhesives on small parts and assemblies

  • Potting and sealing of micro-components where controlled, bubble-free fill is critical

  • Laboratory and prototype work where recipes and dispense times change frequently

  • Small bottle bench stations in electronics, medical device, optics and general industrial manufacturing

Key Technical Features

  • Material type: 1-part, low-viscosity, non-thixotropic liquids up to approx. 5000 mPa·s

  • Dispense principle: digital peristaltic pump, bottle-to-handheld valve transfer

  • Timing range: 0.01 – 99.99 s per shot (time or continuous mode)

  • Typical flow range: about 0.01 – 6 ml/min, depending on tube size and viscosity

  • Power: 100–240 V AC supply, electro-mechanical drive, no air line required

  • Recommended packaging: LOCTITE adhesives in ≤50 ml bottles

Included in the box (typical configuration): PU20 digital dispenser, manual applicator, multiple tip adapters and several sizes of black and clear tubing for different flow requirements.

How to Use LOCTITE PU20

  1. Load the tube
Fit the chosen tubing into the pump head following the guide, keeping kinks and sharp bends out of the liquid path.

  2. Connect the bottle and applicator
Feed one end of the tube into the adhesive bottle and connect the other to the handheld valve or pen applicator.

  3. Prime and teach the shot
Use the manual mode to prime the line, then run a few test shots while adjusting speed and time. Store the combination using the “teach” / memory function when the volume is correct.

  4. Run in timed or continuous mode

    • Timed mode: repeatable dots and beads

    • Continuous mode: steady flow for long beads or potting

  5. Maintain and change over
When changing material or color, simply replace the tubing. Wipe the exterior surfaces and follow your plant’s safety procedures when dealing with hazardous liquids

FAQs

Q1: What types of materials can I dispense with LOCTITE PU20?
LOCTITE PU20 is designed for single-component, low-viscosity, non-thixotropic liquids, such as many LOCTITE cyanoacrylates, anaerobics, light-cure adhesives and similar fluids. Very thick pastes or heavily filled materials are not suitable.

Q2: Why choose a peristaltic dispenser instead of a pressure tank?
A peristaltic system moves the liquid by squeezing the tube, so the adhesive never touches the pump internals and no compressed air is needed. That means cleaner changeovers, less maintenance, and air-free, bubble-free dispensing directly from the bottle.

Q3: Do I need plant air to run the PU20?
No. PU20 uses an electro-mechanical drive and only requires standard AC power. This is ideal for labs, small workcells or locations where compressed air is limited or expensive.

Q4: How accurate is the dosing volume?
Shot size is controlled by pump speed + dispense time. Once you “teach” a dot or bead and store the program, the dispenser repeats the same volume very consistently, as long as you use the same tube size, material and settings.

Q5: How do I change to a different adhesive?
Simply replace the tubing and, if needed, the bottle adapter and tips. Because the material only touches the disposable tube and nozzle, there is usually no need to clean the pump mechanism itself.

Q6: Can I use LOCTITE PU20 for continuous beads or only for dots?
You can do both. Use timed mode for repeatable dots or short beads, and continuous mode when you need a steady flow for long beads, potting, or filling operations.

Q7: What bottle sizes are supported?
The system is intended for small bottles (typically up to 50 ml) placed near the dispenser. If you need to pull from larger bulk containers, use longer tubing and ensure the pump does not have to lift the liquid too far vertically.

Q8: What maintenance does the PU20 need?
Routine maintenance is minimal:

  • Inspect and replace tubing when it shows wear, hardening or discoloration.

  • Keep the pump head and housing clean and dry.

  • Check the power cable and connectors regularly.
Most “maintenance” is simply scheduled tube replacement to ensure consistent flow.
