Overview
Loctite AA H3410 is a two-part, room-temperature curing methacrylate structural adhesive designed for high-strength bonding of metals (including galvanized steel), plastics and composites.
Supplied in a dual cartridge, it mixes at a 4:1 volume ratio and cures to a gray, tough bond line with excellent peel and impact resistance.
Built-in 0.25 mm (10 mil) glass spacer beads help maintain a consistent adhesive thickness, making AA H3410 ideal where bond-line control is critical.

Minimal surface preparation
-
Formulated to give strong bonds with little or no aggressive surface prep, saving process time compared with many traditional structural adhesives.
-
Typical Applications
Loctite AA H3410 is used wherever multi-substrate structural bonding and paint-line compatibility are important, for example:
-
Automotive & commercial vehicles
-
Bonding body panels, stiffeners, brackets and reinforcements on galvanized or coated steel structures
-
Structural bonding before e-coat or powder-coat bake
-
-
Construction & fabricated metalwork
-
Joining frames, door and window components, handrails, covers and architectural panels
-
Replacing or supplementing welding and mechanical fasteners in many joints
-
-
Industrial equipment & enclosures
-
Bonding plastic or composite covers to metal frames
-
Attaching mounting rails, hinges, gussets and reinforcement ribs
-
-
Composite structures
-
Joining composite skins to metal subframes
-
Multi-material assemblies where differential thermal expansion must be accommodated by a tough adhesive rather than a brittle joint
-
How to Use Loctite AA H3410
Always follow the current Henkel Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and your internal process guidelines.
Step 1 – Surface preparation
-
Remove oil, dust, loose oxides and release agents from the bonding area.
-
Clean with a suitable solvent or industrial cleaner and let dry.
-
For very demanding joints, light abrasion on metals and composites, followed by re-cleaning, will usually improve bond strength.
(One advantage of AA H3410 is that it often performs well with minimal prep on production parts.)
Step 2 – Cartridge setup & mixing
-
Insert the dual 4:1 cartridge into the appropriate dispensing gun.
-
Attach a static mixing nozzle.
-
Dispense and discard a small initial amount until the adhesive exits with a uniform gray color and consistent texture.
Step 3 – Application
-
Apply a continuous bead of mixed adhesive to one surface, designing the bead path to give full coverage after assembly.
-
The glass beads will help set bond-line thickness as parts are pressed together.
Step 4 – Assembly and fixturing
-
Bring parts together within the 7–10 minute working time; align correctly and apply even pressure or clamping.
-
Maintain contact until fixture strength is reached (typically around 18–23 minutes at room temperature).
Step 5 – Full cure & downstream processing
-
Parts can normally be moved carefully after fixturing, but avoid full load until the adhesive has fully cured (roughly 24 hours at ambient, depending on temperature and joint geometry).
-
Assemblies can be sent through e-coat or powder-coat bakes in line with Henkel’s recommendations, as AA H3410 is designed to withstand paint-bake conditions.
Safety & Handling
Loctite AA H3410 is a methacrylate acrylic adhesive; handle it using standard precautions for reactive acrylates:
-
Avoid skin and eye contact with both components; may cause irritation or sensitisation.
-
Use in a well-ventilated area and avoid breathing vapors, especially in confined spaces.
-
Wear safety glasses or goggles, chemical-resistant gloves and appropriate protective clothing.
-
Store cartridges between about 8 °C and 21 °C (46–70 °F), away from direct heat and sunlight.
-
Prevent uncured adhesive from entering drains or waterways; dispose of waste and empty cartridges in line with local regulations.
Always consult the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and TDS for detailed, region-specific information.
FAQs
Q1: What is Loctite AA H3410 mainly used for?
Loctite AA H3410 is mainly used as a high-strength structural acrylic for multi-substrate bonding—especially galvanized steel, plastics and composites—in automotive, construction and general industrial assemblies, including those going through paint-bake lines.
Q2: How fast does AA H3410 reach handling strength?
At room temperature, AA H3410 typically offers 7–10 minutes of working time and reaches fixture in about 18–23 minutes (≈20 min), depending on joint design and temperature.
Q3: What substrates does it bond best?
It is optimized for metals (including galvanized steel), plastics and composites, providing strong structural bonds on mixed-material assemblies.
Q4: Why are glass beads included in the adhesive?
The integrated 0.25 mm (10 mil) glass beads act as spacers, preventing the joint from being squeezed completely dry and helping keep a consistent, controlled bond-line thickness across the entire overlap.
Q5: Can AA H3410 be used before e-coat or powder-coat?
Yes. AA H3410 is specifically described as compatible with metal pretreatment and paint-bake cycles, and it can withstand typical e-coat and powder-coat processes when cured correctly.
Q6: Does it require extensive surface preparation?
In many applications, AA H3410 provides good bond strength with minimal surface preparation, though cleaning to remove oils and loose oxides is still recommended. For highly critical joints, light abrasion plus cleaning will usually give the best results.
Q7: Is Loctite AA H3410 electrically conductive?
No. Like most methacrylate structural adhesives, AA H3410 cures to an electrically insulating bond line, so it can be used around many electrical and electronic assemblies where mechanical strength and basic insulation are both desired.
Q8: Can bonded parts be disassembled?
AA H3410 is a structural adhesive; once fully cured, bonds are generally intended to be permanent. Disassembly typically requires mechanical methods (and sometimes heat) and may damage the substrates, so design joints assuming very limited rework.
