Product Overview
Loctite 648 is a high-strength retaining compound specifically designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts. It performs exceptionally well under high temperatures and dynamic loads, preventing loosening and leakage caused by vibration and shock.
This product cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces to form a strong, uniform bond suitable for high-performance applications.
Key Benefits:
-
High temperature resistance up to 180°C (356°F)
-
Excellent performance on both active and passive metals
-
Superior gap-filling capability for tight assemblies
-
Prevents fretting corrosion and vibration loosening

FAQs
Q1: What is the difference between Loctite 648 and Loctite 638?
A1: Loctite 648 offers better temperature resistance and performance on passive metals, while Loctite 638 provides a slightly higher gap-filling capacity.
Q2: Can Loctite 648 be used on stainless steel?
A2: Yes. It is suitable for both active and passive metals, including stainless steel, brass, and aluminum.
Q3: Does Loctite 648 require heat to cure?
A3: No. It cures at room temperature but can be accelerated with moderate heat if needed.
Q4: How do I remove cured Loctite 648?
A4: Apply localized heat above 250°C and use mechanical removal or a Loctite solvent like 7200 Gasket Remover.
